Made before 1980, this jar is an iconic example of the artist’s earliest work. Styled after the ancient pottery pieces of the Casa Grande culture around 1100 AD, these were the types of wares Juan first created inside the re-genesis of the pottery type he would later come to champion. Signed in ink, this piece was among a collection taken to Mr. Quezada for him to identify. Photo’s of the collection and of Juan signing one of the pieces in the collecxtion are included. Photos and full letters of provenance from the original owners are included with purchase.
