Tour de Force bolo tie by Virgil and Shirley Benn. ca. 1970. Depicting the Wuyak-kuita Katsinam who guards the pathways for the Katsinam during ceremonies. Representations of this figure are also often hung in the doorways of the home in order to ward off evil spirits. 3.5” w. x 6.25” h.
Dixon Shebala masterpiece. 7 inches tall. Comanche Dancer in profile. Signed and dated 1969
Early Zuni needlepoint necklace and earrings. Provenance on this set dates them to ca. 1945 or earlier. This set is the finest example of the type we have ever encountered. The labor required in order to cut the stones, manufacture the incredibly intricate silver supporting plates and then mount each stone into it’s individual handmade and soldered bezel setting is extraordinarily dazzling. Beautiful !
Wonderful Rainbowman pin with starry crown. This exceptional example is attributed to Teddy Weahkee.
Wonderful Hilili Katsina bolo by Virgil and Shirley Benn. Fine inlay and perfect color selections of the materials used make this example be just about as fine as Zuni inlay work ever gets. Just extraordinary !
