The world-famous Lone Mountain Turquoise mine is located a short distance outside of Tonopah, Nevada. Lone Mountain has been a producer of very high-quality American turquoise since the mine opened in the 1920’s. The early mining in the claim was unorganized, haphazard and led to unsafe conditions, including unstable tunnels. The modern mine owners have collapsed those tunnels and returned Lone Mountain mine to a very safe, environmentally friendly mining operation.  Lone Mountain Turquoise is noted for its incredible hardness which gives it its famous ability to hold color and not fade. The mine has produced some of the highest quality spider web turquoise ever found as well as rare and beautiful vibrantly colored stones which present in spectacular colorways.  Valued second only to Lander Blue Turquoise in the overall collector’s market, Lone Mountain Turquoise remains the most valuable turquoise still being mined today.
