Bamana female figures, such as the example shown here, are often referred to as Jonyeleni or member of the Bamama Jo Society. Carried by young, unmarried adult women they symbolize the woman's attributes as a strong and viable member within Bamana society. Middle of the twentieth century.
Measures: 4.25" w. x 14.75" h.
Condition is excellent with considerable encrusted patina from multiple periods of veneration.
